I planned to have my morning walk. This is part of my daily well-being routine.
However, when I entered the park, my eyes caught this spectacular view. My body slowed down. I stopped there and enjoyed the show.
A thousand words can’t describe how magical this experience was. Even this picture can’t really capture the beauty of the dusty light particles floating within the sun’s rays. I was in awe of the beauty of nature and lost sense of time. I felt grateful being in this moment and allowing myself to just be.
For me, it’s a big win – to become agile, let go of my initial plan to exercise, and to quiet the noisy thoughts that judge the decision to stay there. Thoughts like, “Why do you spend so much time here? Why are you neglecting your health again? Why and why and why….?”
Oh, this is health. I thought. My heartbeat doesn’t go up. True. But my body is filled with joy and peace. I feel so touched by this view that my eyes tear up. All is good. Take it in.
Years of practice brought me here and years of practice are ahead of me to take these capabilities to the next level – of slowing down, staying present, and letting go of rigid plans.
Make plans, work on your goals, AND learn how to become agile to the beauty you are surrounded by. There are many possibilities to bring plans to life – like sprinting back home when the show is over, running along with my kids while they roll, or volunteering to be a tennis ball girl as the kiddos play
We are all capable of experiencing more of the good. Expanding it, and taking it in.
The journey to enjoy the little things in life takes learning, including learning how to become agile. It’s a daily practice.
